PRINTED COTTON FABRICS

Printing on cotton — what should you know?

Custom-printed cotton fabric by the metre

Cotton is a natural, soft-to-the-touch fabric with a wide range of uses — from clothing and bedding to tablecloths, curtains and decorations. At Printella, we use digital pigment printing to put your own patterns, illustrations and artwork on cotton fabric without requiring large print runs.

Order cotton fabric with your own print from just 1 linear metre. Choose your fabric, upload your artwork and arrange the pattern in our design tool. Order a small quantity for a personal project, test a new collection or print a larger run. It’s a flexible option for sewing enthusiasts, designers, small brands and sewing studios alike.

We print on a range of cotton fabrics — from lightweight percale and sateen to canvas, Panama and twill. The printable width ranges from 145 to 155 cm, depending on the material. When planning your project, consider the fabric weight and weave, as both affect the appearance, feel and suitability of the finished fabric.

Even one metre counts!

Frequently asked questions about cotton fabric printing

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Which cotton fabric is best for bedding?

We recommend 135 g/m² cotton percale and 145 g/m² cotton sateen. Percale has a dense, smooth weave, while sateen has a subtle sheen and a lovely feel. Both fabrics are excellent for bedding with your own print.

What is the minimum order quantity?

The minimum order is 1 linear metre. You don't need to order a large quantity — print just one metre to test your design or order more straight away. Volume discounts start at 5 metres.

Which cotton fabric should I choose for bags and decorations?

For bags, aprons and decorations, we recommend heavier cotton fabrics such as 250 g/m² Panama and 250 g/m² twill. Their dense construction offers good durability for everyday items.

Can I order a sample first?

Yes! You can order a 46 × 46 cm sample of cotton fabric printed with your own design for €9.90. It's a good way to check colours, fabric texture and print quality before placing a larger order.

Can I print my own design on cotton?

Of course! Upload your artwork as a JPG or PNG and adjust its size and layout in the Printella design tool. For the best print quality, we recommend a resolution of at least 150 DPI at the final print size.

Will colours look the same on every type of cotton?

Not always. The weave, texture and finish of a fabric can affect how printed colours appear. The same design may look slightly different on percale, sateen or Panama. If accurate colour reproduction is important to you, we recommend ordering a sample first.

Still have questions?
