Knit fabric printing by the metre

At Printella, we use digital pigment printing on cotton knit fabrics. You can order jersey or French terry printed with your own design from just 1 metre – for one-off projects as well as small clothing collections. Digital printing transfers multicolour designs onto fabric without the need for screens.

Custom-printed jersey

Jersey is a soft, stretchy knit that works beautifully for T-shirts, dresses, pyjamas and children’s clothing. Choose lightweight 170 g/m² jersey or the more substantial 220 g/m² jersey with elastane if you want a heavier weight and more spring.

Custom-printed French terry

For sweatshirts, joggers, co-ords and dresses, we recommend loopback French terry in 250 or 300 g/m². The smooth face shows off printed designs perfectly, while the characteristic loops on the back give the fabric a pleasant texture.

Your design on knit fabric – how to order

Choose your fabric, upload your own artwork and adjust the size and layout of the pattern in the Printella design tool. Depending on the fabric, the printable width ranges from 165 to 170 cm. Before placing a larger order, you can also check the result on a 46 × 46 cm sample.

Frequently asked questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Which knit fabric is best for T-shirts?

170 g/m² single jersey is the classic choice for T-shirts – it’s light, soft and airy. If you prefer a thicker, more substantial fabric, choose 220 g/m² single jersey premium. You can order both with your own print.

What is the minimum order for printed knit fabric?

The minimum order is 1 linear metre. You can print a single project, test a new design or order a larger length for your collection. Volume discounts are available for larger orders.

Are knit fabrics suitable for children’s clothing?

Yes. Soft, stretchy knits are perfect for children’s clothing. For T-shirts, bodysuits and pyjamas we recommend cotton jersey, and for sweatshirts and joggers – French terry.

Can I order a sample of printed knit fabric first?

Yes. A 46 × 46 cm sample with your design costs €9.90. You can order it directly in our design tool to check colours, print details and fabric texture before placing a larger order.

Can I print my own design on knit fabric?

Of course! Choose jersey or French terry, upload your artwork and arrange the pattern in the Printella design tool. We recommend a resolution of at least 150 DPI at the final print size. The design tool will help you assess the quality of your file.

Do print colours look the same on every knit fabric?

Not always. How colours look depends on the type of knit, its structure and the chosen design. There may also be differences between what you see on screen and the finished print. If accurate colour reproduction matters to you, we recommend ordering a sample first.
